George Storm's robot combined, among other things, the bTop, an iSight camera, and a Mac Mini.

A prize-winner at prize-winner at the ADHOC / MacHack conference, the intelligent autonomous robot from George Storm and Andrew Turner's demonstrated the functionality of the bTop board, combined here with an iSight camera and a Mac Mini.

bTop autonomous robotics

George Storm and Andrew Turner teamed up at the ADHOC / MacHack conference to create an autonomous robot with the bTop-1 data acquisition/control system. George Storm outfitted an aluminum frame with a bTop-1 card, a Mac Mini, and an iSight camera. The team succeeded in their goal of creating a robot with autonomous visual control that can track objects and respond to them.

The team, the robot, and the bTop-1 have been featured in MacTech Magazine (October, 2005) and were also the topic of Chuck Joiner's The User Group Report (Aug 30, 2005) from The MUG Center.

You can listen to Chuck Joiner's interview with George Storm here.

George also maintains a bTop mailing list for those interested in working with the bTop card.

Andrew Turner provides a nice description of the function and design of the robot on his webpage, and George Storm describes the process of constructing his bTop robot here.
